I'm contemplating using battery-backed RAM in the memory sockets on my board. I'm wondering whether there's a convenient way to set this board up such that, when I have a ROM in the code-space socket I can simply copy it, location-for-location, to a BBRAM in the user space, then plug it into the ROM socket for later use.
It would, in fact, be really convenient if I could, under software control, write to the code space in order to facilitate patching the code that's located there.
Can you make a recommendation? I'd be willing to replace the GAL's or whatever, rather than to roll my own board. I'm particularly interested using a MAXIM/DALLAS 89C420 for this little task, since it's actually fast enough to handle my requirements.
thanks
