I purchased the 86HC12 based pill box from NMI. It's a really nice box packed with useful features.
That said, here's a gripe (and suggestion for NMI). The box is really weak on SRAM. A battery backed 32K
SRAM in the box would do wonders for improving its functionality. Although it appears the flash can
be used for data storage, it is definately not the preferred route. There's loads of data acqusition
apps that the box is well suited for if it only had the ram to support the applications.
NMI's larger boards are great (4X6 format) and the perhipherial support boards offered are (in my
opinion) the best in terms of reliability and functionality. However, there are a lot of needs for the
smaller boards (2X2 & 3X3) with limited peripherial support. There's a company (I won't mention
names) that makes the HC11 & HC12 on 2X2 and 3X3 formats with lots of RAM and EEPROM. I'd like
to see more of this type product offered by NMI.
