i am up and running thanks to your suggestions on using
the L command with the monitor program that is in U2. turns out that tinytest.asm executes at X8200 rather than X8000. also the for statement stops before it gets to putting z on the console. i am going to look into that and fully understand it before i use that for loop statement in a program. (changing from < to <= got more characters, but not all the way to z.) thanks again.
