NMIY-0031 works with Maxterm in full DOS.

In a win98 DOS box nothing happens when I reset the '31. Of course, the settings are unchanged from those which worked in full DOS mode.

In windows, Hyperterminal sees the reset message, but data download produces errrors.
I am careful to close Hyperterminal before opening Maxterm.

I did not run the install program
1) I didn't want the program under the root directory
2) it doesn't appear to do anything except copy files to MAXTERM under the root directory.

Any ideas how to get this to work in a DOS session? My hardware is good, this seems to be some funky windows thing.

Thanks!

Rob

Yep, your guess is right! Not only MAXTERM, i have seen several terminal dos based programs did not recognize the hardware running window background. But once awhile it does. I do not know how to make it consistently works with window everytime but i know a trick that works on my computer. Here is how,

First you need to create a MAXTERM shortcut icon on your desktop. Then you need to reboot your computer, and Maxterm is the very 1st Terminal program you need to run after the windows is up. As long as you don't close it out, It works just fine. You can minimize it if you want. But once you close it, there is no guarrante it will work next time you run it, but it will work each time you reboot your computer. Like you said ." it's a funky windows thing".

Try it! If someone have a better trick, please post it. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. This didn't work for me, but it keeps me from spending any more time trying.

Working in DOS is not so bad!
