Greetings,

I am not having any luck communicating with my new IsoPod. I bought the version with prewired serial and power cables and I double checked to make sure the connections were correct. I tried 2 different computers running different terminal programs (Procomm and Hyper Terminal) set to 9600, N, 8, 1 and neither one gets anything back. The three LEDs light up like they should when power is applied, but there is no "IsoMax V1.0" message and nothing happens when I enter keystrokes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Lee Alexander

The Hyperterminal program does not have a option for us to disable/enable the DTR signal or ATN signal on IsoPod(TM) board. So If you want to use the Hyperterminal, you must remove the yellow wire off the wire case.

I would recommend to use the MAXTERM included with the IsoPod.zip (manual) instead of remove the Yellow wire. You can download the Manual & maxterm program here,

Just the Maxterm program,

Check the level on the DTR line. For normal operation it should be an RS-232 mark (negative voltage, -7V on my laptop for instance). If the ATN/DTR line is high, it can hold reset low on the board, and it won't talk. If you haven't told the communications programs to releast this line, it could be holding the board in reset. So that is the first thing to check. Of course having the RS-232 connector flipped could have "quiet" results, too, but that is a bit less likely from what you've said.

MaxTerm did the trick. I'm up and running.

Thank you very much for the info on the DTR line too.
