I got my isopod today, and powered it up. I finally got the serial port wires connected the right way.

I ran Maxterm, and It comes up with
IsoMax V0.5

There is NO ok and the dtr I have turned off using Alt-T.
Im not even sure if an Ok is supposed to be printed.

It dones seem like any files I try to send do anything. I go into the editor Alt-E and then type in a program and then hit 'F1', but it only prints about 3 characters in the green terminal window, and does nothing more.

Please help..

Thanks
Coby

Hi Coby,

Maxterm from New Micros comes set up to communicate with the IsoPod(TM). Leaving DTR on allows communication to your PC. You should see OK after anytime you end a line with the enter key. In fact, an easy check of communications is to simply tap your enter key a couple times to see the "OK" response from the IsoPod(TM). Use of the Alt-T to toggle DTR also can reset communications.
The help screen for Maxterm can be accessed using Alt-H. Programs created in a text editor like NotePad can be copied and then pasted to Maxterm using Cntrl-V, to send to the IsoPod(TM).

I have tried that. I dont get an "Ok" Even after hitting enter several times. The only thing that comes up is the Isomax text. I have hit Alt-T to turn of the DSR, there is no d showing, which seems to reset the isopod, but it only keep printing the Isomax text with NO ok.

I think the editing problem will be fixed when I get the ok..

I believe my serial port is hooked up right or else I wouldnt be getting the Isomax text ...

If you do not see OK responses each time you hit a key, check the serial cable and make sure the SIN wire is not broken and properly connected. To verify this, if you have the scope you can probe the SIN pin on J1 connector. The SIN signal must trigger high (RS-232 level) when you depress and hold a key. If it does not trigger, check your SIN wire including the Ground wire.

Beside the Dos based Maxterm, you can download a copy of the terminal window program, NMITerm here,
http://www.newmicros.com/download/NMITerm.zip

Please go through the troubleshooting discussion above and try it out with the NMITerm, if it still not reponse please email to nmiproduction@newmicros.com to request for a RMA # and instruction to return for repair/replacement.
