I'm working on a hexapod robot that will have 18 to 20 rc servos. I'm wondering what would be the best IsoPod configuration to go with.

I was thinking of using the IsoPod V2 SR and adding the RC-Servo-Adapter. Does that sounds right or is the Switching regulator on the V2 SR not compatible with the RC-Servo-Adapter?

I guess I'm basically looking for a suggestion as to what IsoPod Hardware I should be using.

Thanks,

Rob.

When I made my original hexapod walker, I used a V1 (all there was then). Connecting RC Servos 1 -12 was easy. The addapter I had to make to connect RC Servos 13 - 20 was the inspiration for the V2 RC Servo Adapter. So yes, today, I'd use a V2 and a RC Servo Adapter.

The power going to the RC servos should be directly from the batteries, and not drawn from the boards power supply, because that many RC servos can draw several amps, well beyond the limited regulation ability of the board.

So the type of regulators doesn't really matter concerning the servos. However... the SR input threshold is around 7V, while the linear can operate off lower inputs. If a solid +5V is not needed on the board (only used to power the CAN chip) using 4 AA 1.2V rechargables works fine for powering the linear unit, but will not power the SR fitted one. A 9V transistor battery might be a better source with the SR unit, but will not last as long as the 4 AA's.

Thanks for the info.

I think I will take your advice and go with the V2 & RC Servo Adapter. I'm fairly familiar with Forth so I'm looking forward to the IsoMax environment.

I had the same problem.
I sloved it with an own servo-addapter with an voltage regulator (TO220) with 6V.
So i can use accu-packs with more power.
