For grins I decided to see if I could get the IsoPod to communicate with my Apple PowerMac that runs OS X. I used a Keyspan USB to Serial DB9 adaptor, P/N: USA-19QW, that I found at Frys. I have used this with another device, a Icom PCR-1000 with success.

For communication software I downloaded a couple of serial terminal programs. ZTerm is a shareware program from David Alverson and I also tried a demo version of MacWise from Carnation Software. I was able to toggle the LEDs and list out the words with both.

The next step is to test both communication environments and decide which to license. Also need figure out how to rev the IsoMax on the two IsoPods I have to V0.6. (One is V0.3 and the other is V0.5)

So if you have a Mac and want to play with a IsoPod, it's possible. Now it's time to read the documentation... :)

I've been using the IsoPod(s) with OS X with a multi-window terminal program done with RealBasic. If you have control of the code you can do some neat stuff, like error detection during uploads etc.

Sounds cool, I was looking for something on OS X that could fill the shoes of Maxterm. I was looking at using RealBasic solely due to the fact that it can control the serial port on OS X without a lot of fuss. I have some other equipment I was considering controlling via the serial port. Is your program available for others to use?

Thanks,
Chris

I'm still working on a few more features, but I could probably use some feedback on what I have so far. I plan to eventually do a Cocoa app, so this is kind of a prototype for that. I have some ideas for a nice expandable data aquisition and control system that the comm program and IsoPod would be part of.

I would be glad to test it if you need feedback. I'm starting to learn C so I can eventually do Objective C and Cocoa.
