Very much all USB to RS-232 cables are compatible. I remembered a while back i bought one on EBAY for $2.99 plus shipping with no brand name. New cable, It works just fine. Also a co-worker here is currently using one that he bought from Tiger Direct for $19.99, I believed. He is currently out of town, and i don't have a model for it. He will post it as soon as he has a chance to check his email.

I am using the BAFO USB to DB9 serial adapter on my laptop. I'm pretty happy with it. Only bad thing is it comes with female screw on the connector. Usually what I plug into also has female screws. So I had to remove them. When I twisted them out (not really screwed in, just molded to the plastic) the shell around the pins came off too. So I've just got the naked pins on the connector. Also, there was some trouble with the drivers and my Windows XP drivers when I upgraded. I've found the work around to not plug the converter in when I power up or reboot, and then it works fine. Tiger sells them currently at ~$14.99
