Newbie here,

Could someone please offer their insight into the 'main' differences between the Servopod and the IsoPodX? They seem to share many features yet some are different. What makes one or the other better and what are some applications where one is clearly better than the other? Thanks in advance

The "main" difference between the IsoPodX(TM) and the ServoPod(TM) is the processor use. The IsoPodX(TM) uses an '805 DSP and the ServoPod(TM) uses an '807 DSP. The 807 is a much larger part, so in the same board format there are more connections. So...

With the ServoPod(TM) you get 16-ch A/D vs. the IsoPodX(TM) having only 8. In general, also, the ServoPod(TM) has about twice as much internal memory.

However, the '805 is a smaller part, so there was board room left over to put on a huge external memory (128Kx16). Now depending on how much of the processors internal memory you are using, you may not be able to access all that RAM. But, when you need large RAM arrays for rapidly changing data values, which would wear out the life of your FLASH too soon, the IsoPodX(TM) may be a better choice than the ServoPod(TM) .
